“Charles “Shane” Ellison joined the Duke Law faculty in 2020 as a senior lecturing fellow and supervising attorney in the Immigrant Rights Clinic. Ellison currently sits on the National Amicus Committee of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and he chairs AILA’s Asylum Litigation Working Group. He is frequently invited to speak at national immigration law conferences. His published scholarship has appeared in the Columbia Human Rights Law Review, Georgetown Immigration Law Journal, Creighton Law Review, and several practitioner-focused journals.”

• Elizabeth Carlson, Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., Washington, D.C. (CLINIC)

Elizabeth Carlson is a Senior Attorney at CLINIC. She provides training and legal support to member agencies and other organizations nationwide and is based in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining CLINIC in 2021, Elizabeth worked as a staff attorney at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington in its Immigration Legal Services section. She provided direct representation in naturalization, family-based applications, asylum and immigration court proceedings.  She also worked for several years in private practice and previously served as a judicial law clerk and attorney advisor at the New York immigration court.  She is barred in New York and DC and has a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law.
